FamCove FAQ

What is FamCove?
FamCove is a shared family calendar and household-organizer app for iOS. It gives every adult in a household one calendar with coverage planning (who's got the kid for each event), a school-PDF importer that turns flyers into events, and a childcare reimbursement tracker for FSA / DCFSA / IRS Form 2441.
Who is FamCove for?
Two-adult households with kids, single parents, and co-parenting families. The app is built for the adults coordinating the household — kids age 8+ can have limited logins, but FamCove is not a kids' app.
Is FamCove free?
Yes. The shared calendar, coverage planning, basic chore tracker, and document vault are free with no ads. A paid tier unlocks unlimited events, school-calendar sync, and the reimbursement tracker.
What devices does FamCove support?
iPhone (iOS 16+), iPad, and a web companion at famcove.com. Android is on the roadmap.
How is FamCove different from a regular shared calendar?
A regular shared calendar (Apple Family Sharing, Google Calendar) gives you one shared list of events. FamCove adds: per-event coverage planning, color-coding by parent (not by calendar), school-PDF import, and family-tuned notifications like morning-of reminders for uncovered events.
Does FamCove sync with Google Calendar and iCloud?
Yes. FamCove imports from Google Calendar and iCloud Calendar so your work and personal events show up alongside family events. Two-way sync is on the roadmap.
How does coverage planning work?
Every event has a 'who's covering this?' field. Set it manually or set it once on a recurring event and FamCove propagates it. Unassigned events trigger a 6:30 AM reminder until somebody claims them.
How does the school-PDF importer work?
Three ways: (1) Forward the PTA email to your dedicated FamCove inbox address. (2) Snap a photo of the printed flyer with the camera. (3) Paste a Google Doc or PDF link. FamCove parses dates and creates draft events you review and approve in one tap.
What if the school sends an iCal feed instead?
FamCove subscribes to iCal feeds — paste the URL once and it stays in sync.
Is FamCove court-admissible like OurFamilyWizard?
FamCove maintains a tamper-evident audit log of every event, message, change, and handoff that you can export at any time. Whether a specific export is admissible depends on your jurisdiction; the same is true for OurFamilyWizard. We export in a clean PDF format that judges and attorneys recognize.
Can my ex see my private events?
No. FamCove only shows your co-parent the events that involve the kids. Personal calendars (work meetings, dating, your own appointments) are private.
Can I message my co-parent through FamCove?
Yes. Messages are scoped to a specific event or child so context is preserved, and every message is in the audit log.
Does FamCove sell my family's data?
No. FamCove does not sell your data, does not run advertising, does not include third-party tracking SDKs, and does not use your data to train AI models. Read the full privacy policy at famcove.com/privacy-policy.
How is my data secured?
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Access is gated by Supabase Row-Level Security so users can only read records belonging to their own family. The Family Vault uses additional client-side encryption for sensitive documents.
Can I export everything and delete my account?
Yes. Settings → Data → Export downloads your full data as JSON. Settings → Account → Delete permanently removes everything within 30 days. We do not retain data after deletion.
Is FamCove GDPR-compliant?
Yes. FamCove honors all GDPR rights including access, portability, rectification, erasure, and objection. Email privacy@famcove.com to exercise these rights. Full GDPR notice at famcove.com/gdpr-notice.
Does FamCove comply with COPPA?
Yes. FamCove is built for adults; we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The optional kid login (age 8+) requires parent consent and collects only the minimum data needed to assign chores and view shared family events.
How much is the paid tier?
Pricing is set on the App Store; check the in-app paywall for current rates. The paid tier is billed by Apple, not directly by FamCove.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Manage your subscription through Apple: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → FamCove → Cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com within 90 days of purchase. We do not have access to refund subscriptions directly.
How do I get support?
Email support@famcove.com. We aim to respond within 24 hours on weekdays. For urgent privacy or security issues, email privacy@famcove.com or security@famcove.com respectively.
Is there a referral program?
Not yet. We're focused on shipping the core product. If you want to be notified when referrals launch, email hello@famcove.com.
