FamCove vs Cozi: which family organizer fits your household?

Both apps share calendars across parents. The differences are in coverage planning, ads, school import, and pricing. Here's the side-by-side.

The TL;DR

Cozi is the older, more feature-complete family organizer — calendar, shopping list, recipe box, family journal. Free tier shows ads; Cozi Gold is $39.99/year and removes them.

FamCove is newer, narrower, and built around three jobs Cozi doesn't do: per-event coverage planning, a school-PDF importer, and FSA-ready childcare receipts. No ads in any tier. iOS only today.

Pick FamCove if you have kids in school, struggle with handoff coordination, or claim childcare on FSA. Pick Cozi if you want the recipe box, you're on Android, or you've already trained your household to use it.

Frequently asked questions

Is FamCove a Cozi alternative?
Yes. FamCove is a direct alternative to Cozi Family Organizer, with three differentiators: per-event coverage planning, school-PDF import, and FSA-ready childcare receipts. FamCove is also ad-free where Cozi shows ads on the free tier.
Should I switch from Cozi to FamCove?
Switch if your household struggles with coverage handoffs, deals with a lot of school flyers, or claims childcare on FSA / DCFSA. Stay with Cozi if you rely on the recipe box, the family journal, or you have an Android-only household (FamCove is currently iOS-only).
Is FamCove ad-free? Cozi shows ads.
Yes, FamCove has no advertising in any tier. Cozi's free tier shows banner ads in the calendar; Cozi Gold ($39.99/year) removes them. We considered the same model and decided we'd rather charge a little more for the paid tier than show ads to families.
Can I import my Cozi data into FamCove?
Cozi exports your calendar as ICS (iCalendar) format, which FamCove imports. Recipes and journals don't transfer — we don't have those features. The shopping list import is on the roadmap.
Does FamCove cost more than Cozi?
FamCove free is comparable to Cozi free (with no ads). FamCove paid is priced similarly to Cozi Gold but with different tradeoffs — FamCove's paid tier focuses on school-PDF import volume and reimbursement tracking; Cozi Gold focuses on ad removal and recipe storage.
